Poor times were the best times..
I remember when I was growing up in jamaica in this little town called Craig Town , and we use to be so ignorant of the fact that we were actually poor. Good times I tell you good times. We were oblivious of the fact that our parents struggled to buy the basic neccesities, or that we were lacking in anything at all. Now that I am in the USA, I am very aware of what I dont have and what I could achieve. But that stuff still does not matter to me, because I have done without so long, that I dont want to spend, in fear of being obssesive.
So I remember when we had this ackee tree in Jamaica and it wasn't ripened yet, but we were hungry as hell, so heres the trick, all you gotta go to ripen an unripen poisionous fruit is to slice the openings and wrapp those mofo in newspaper, now i'm not saying you should do it, but I'm still alive, *I think*. Those ackee ripened in 4 hrs, and bam, me and mp boys had lunch. That tree and the mango tree were life savers, and I use to protect the trees from other persons trying to come get our fruit. To help us with that we had a dog called Sadam, he was mid-size german shepeard with a mean streak unbeknownst to man. He use to be the king of the neighborhood too. Once this kid(19), climbed our fence and jumped up in our mango tree. Sadam was really pissed and started barking and spining, I came out and started telling the kid to stop "tiefing mi mango" but what could I do, he was already in the damn tree and I was 10.
Sadam on the other hand, saw my frustrations and got even more upset, there was a ladder at the base of the tree, and the dog climbed that mofo, and was climbing the limbs of the tree. The kid in the tree looked more 'shocked and awed' than I was, he climed higher in the tree, Sadam climbed even higher in he 3 story mongo tree. Then the kid ran out of real estate and fool started crying, I think sadam was internally laughing, cause he bite that ass so hard the kid jumped out of the tree on to the wall, and jumped from my 2 story yard wall onto the street, running like a madman down the street.
It took sadam 3 hrs and a lot of coaching to climb down the tree, but he did it, and everyone in the neighborhood knew not to come back on my tree.
