Myths about caribbean men that might be true…

I started out thinking that I should say something about Christmas and how it’s celebrated in the Caribbean (Jamaican specifically) compared to America. But that’s somewhat boring because lets face it, its all the same thing, gifts, family and not going to work. The only thing that might be a slight variation, is the different food that that we all might have.

But I had a conversation with ola last night and we were basically in the discussion of what people believe about Caribbean men (in my case a Jamaican man). Now, I’m not an expert on the whole issue, I didn’t do a survey or collected any empirical data to back up my views, but I would like to list and discuss ( in most case just say a yes or no) about the myth that surrounds the Caribbean/Jamaican male;

1. We normally have a lot of women – true, we do tend to have more than one woman at a time, but there is always that special someone that we hold in high regard. There are occasions though that we actually find one person and be faithful to that person, take for instance my Trinidadian friend and of course my self.
2. We tend to hit our women – first of all I have to say, if you have ever being with a Caribbean woman, you have the right to think about strangling her a couple times per year. But that doesn’t mean we should do it. The fact is, back in the days there was this sense that if a woman disrespects you, you should slap her to gain respect. These days’ younger individuals don’t hit women and believes it is wrong.
3. Caribbean men don’t like gay people – for most of us in the younger generation, we really don’t care whether you like mating with pigs, as long as you’re happy. For the older generation, that might be a problem.
4. We love sex all the time – no not all the time just every other day. Ok, look, yes we like our regular dose of nani. But what we fear most is actually not performing up to par.
5. our manhood is partly tied to how we perform in bed – true
6. We love kids so much we have them all the time with many different women – some of us just don’t know how to pull out or the condom just was no good.
7. the way to our hearts is food – true
8. We love big women – there is sort of a division on this issue and it all has to do with big butt and boobs, let me clear it up for you. Firstly back in the days the only way to get such things was to get with a fine big girl, who is fit enough to drop it on you. But around the 2000’s there was a new phenomenon, average size women with big butt and boobs. So now along with big girls we like the average size women too. For thin model type women, your still not on the radar (sorry).
9. we think our personal assets is what make us get women and be loved by people – true, inside the Caribbean to get to even have a chance with any girl, you have to have some money or getting/got an education, or else most girls you cant even look at.
10. we have 10 jobs – we try to have as much as we can manage
11. We love white women – true in some circumstances, but what I’ve heard is that, that’s only because white girls treat us like kings, and black women don’t give a crap. Basically they let the man be the man in public, and anytime a black woman let the man be the man in public then that’s the one we marry. Because no matter what, we and everyone else know that we cant do nothing in public, without our wife’s approval. For instance look at Hilary Clinton, I mean come on how many of you black women would have divorced him and took him for all its worth. Hilary, must have being crazy homicidal at home, but in public she stood behind her man, and now she's a US senator, with her man standing behind her.
12. We tend to ‘go’ all night long – hey even computers needs rebooting.
13. we don’t believe in marriage – all I have to say is refer to number 11.
